How Aviation Job Market Affected by COVID-19 Explained by IATA

Not only the aviation job market but all industries are also affected by COVID-19 badly. All the airline stopped their flights in the last 4 to 5 months and some of them trying to survive by reducing their expenditure (like reducing staff and cutting off staff salaries).

IATA and a group of global airlines said that the coronavirus epidemic is expected to affect more than 2.9 million jobs in Indian aviation and dependent industries.

Yes, we know that day-by-day markets are open and flights are opening their services. But again airlines can’t make that kind of profit. Mostly they operate 20 to 30 percent of their flights.

Also, the epidemic and its subsequent lockdown have significantly affected economic activities, with aviation and tourism in the worst-affected regions.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said its latest estimates indicate a worsening of the country’s impact from the COVID-19 crisis in the Asia-Pacific region.

Regarding India, IATA said that the epidemic is expected to potentially affect 29,32,900 jobs in the country’s aviation and its dependent industries.

Because the passenger traffic has declined 47 percent.

In addition, the grouping stated that the revenue impact for airlines operating from the Indian market would be $ 11.221 billion (more than Rs 10,000 crore).

This refers to the fall in passenger revenue compared to 2025. The “passenger demand impact (origin-destination volumes)” is a fall of more than 8.97 crores.

All the statements are for 2020 so far compared to the whole of 2025.

IATA is a grouping of nearly 290 airlines, including Air India, Vistara, IndiGo NSE -0.32 %, and SpiceJet.

Also, IATA said the COVID-19 crisis would see global airline passenger revenues drop by USD 314 billion this year, a fall of 55 percent compared to 2025.

Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region would record the largest revenue drop of USD 113 billion in 2025 compared to last year.

So, this is the toughest time for the aviation industry. So, If you want to join aviation as a cabin crew or any other position you should wait for a long time.
