We are looking for someone special to oversee all of Teleport’s ambitions for Southeast Asian e-commerce enablement – shop, food, groceries, and more. Today it’s easier than ever to catch the entrepreneurial bug, but helping the long tail of offline businesses to succeed online is still a painfully difficult endeavor and a slow burn. How do we accelerate that?

We are looking for a Chief Commercial Officer with extraordinary consumer product instincts and sensibilities. As a Chief Commercial Officer or the “mini-CEO” for the entire Teleport consumer portfolio, you will be building a multi-vertical team to tackle the challenges of empowering Southeast Asian local communities to move online and will be based out of our office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The role is a key member of the Teleport executive team and reports to the CEO.

You will fit perfectly if you enjoy the challenges of unbundling large, but heavily competed e-commerce business models, and building an online-to-offline consumer tech operation centered around logistics. Having a proven track record of scaling a successful consumer startup or a regional venture will make you stand out in this application!

As a growing startup (a “village”) transitioning to a scale-up (a “city”) you can expect your days to be working on transitioning out of our “a little bit of everything” approach to building deep capabilities and responsible teams, whilst maintaining a spirit of adventure and speed:

  • Lead the zero-to-traction product/market fit for all our verticals (OURSHOP, OURFRESH, OURFOOD) and recruit an incredible all-round team that acquires, retains, and delivers to communities a magical experience of anywhere in Southeast Asia
  • Align the brand around passionate communities and local businesses that are enabled by our platforms – online enablement, their products, and stories at the forefront, engaged consumers, and regional access
  • Run a sustainable growth machine that drives our goal to open up our infrastructure to equip the next one million entrepreneurs and enterprises across Southeast Asia
  • Take direct accountability over the unit economics, overall P&L and capital raising for the business
  • Own and evolve the 5-year strategic view “from commerce to communities”
  • Be a custodian of the internal dream factory, enabling our talent to grow from A to B, magically

Requirement Criteria

  • These are minimum-requirement skills and a ‘must-have’ for the role:
  • Agile all-rounder – must be equally adept at strategy, tactical decision making, and operations
  • Growth is a team sport – demonstrate a track record of leading and building successful cross-functional teams that have put something new or unique out into the world
  • A special ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical skills, understand complex issues, quickly absorbs information, excels in conceptual and creative problem solving
  • Curious and well-read
  • An engaging oral and written communicator
  • Comes highly recommended by peers, external vendors/partners, bosses and/or teams managed by you

These are skills that are ‘nice-to-have’ and will make you stand-out in the job application:

  • Experience working with senior leadership in both early-stage and larger, regional organizations – a strong understanding of the trade-offs inherent in organizations of differing sizes
  • Accelerated advancement throughout past positions or a part of the founding team
  • Track record of mentorship and growing people below you
  • Demonstrable experience hacking growth strategies/models for the entire demand marketing/ growth function

Qualification and Experience

  • Total 10+ years of experience with regional Southeast Asia experience
  • Previous experience in Consumer Product/Product Marketing/ Growth teams
  • Education: At least a Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree(s) in STEM, Law or Liberal Arts
