Responsibilities of the First Officer

  1. Provides friendly service to maintain a positive relationship with all internal and external customers.
  2. Works in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our company.
  3. Works in a highly organized environment, which demands close coordination and teamwork with the Captain, Flight attendant, Dispatcher, and all Ground personnel.
  4. The captain should follow all the rules and instructions regarding the operation of the flight in a suitable manner.
  5. All pilots must work according to the recommendations of Southwest Airlines FAA approved and FAA approved manuals, Operations Specifications, 14 CFRs, 49 CFRs, FAA Orders, Airworthy Directions, Advisory Circular, Handbook Booking, Directions, and Producer.
  6. Any person can not operate a civilian aircraft without following the operational limits specified in the approved Southwest Airlines Flight Operations Manual, Marking and Play cards. (Ref. 14 CFR 91.9 (A))
  7. No person can operate an aircraft carelessly and carelessly so that the life or property of another can be put in jeopardy. (Ref. 14 CFR 91.13)
  8. All Southwest Airlines employees must follow the company’s policies on drug-free workplaces and alcohol misuse.
  9. A person can not do any work listed in Appendix I, 14 CFR 121, while that person has a prohibited drug, as defined by that appendix, in his or her system. (Ref. 14 CFR 121.455 (B))
  10. No person can perform any security-sensitive work if the person has a verified positive drug test result or refuses to submit for the required drug testing by Appendix I 14 CFR 121, and the person To return to the performance of sensitive duties to return to the needs of that supplement is not fulfilled.   11. Submit a report on irregularities or incidents as required.
  12. Immediately notify the Chief Pilot or Assistant Base Chief Pilot based on any inconsistency or incident, which may affect its ability to perform safety, regulatory compliance, and performance within the standards of fiscal responsibility, or the ability of Southwest Airlines.
  13. During the performance flight as captain, the captain should be disabled and unable to handle the command.
  14. Must be able to meet the requirements of any physical capacity listed in this description.
  15. Take the necessary actions to resolve any problems or situations related to security or compliance.
  16. When assigned by the Captain, direct the flight crew safely and efficiently to meet the operational requirements of Southwest Airlines.
  17. Duties and rights defined for this position; Responsibilities can’t be delegated.
  18. Others can do the work as guided by the employees’ leaders.
  19. Must be able to meet the requirements of any physical capacity listed in this description.
  20. Employees can do other tasks as directed by the leaders.

Eligibility of Airlines Pilot

Qualification Need

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent education requirement
  • Applicant should be at least 18 years of age.
  • There should be authorized to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized four-year college.

Work Experience Required

  • 2500 hours of total flight time or 1,500 hours of total flight time in a turbine aircraft.
  • In addition, the minimum 1,000 hours in the turbine planes are liked in the form of a pilot. Only time is calculated in a fixed-wing aircraft, this exclusively excludes the simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, EF, NAV, EWO and UAV. Of the last 5 years, 2 are preferred to fly actively.

Licencing And Certification

USA DOT / FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. The certificate must display the following –

  • “Airplane Multiengine Land” Category and Class Ratings.
  • “English Proficient” limitation

Plastic certificate (if the plastic is a valid certificate then not required)

  • USA DOT / FAA First Class Medical Certificate and, if applicable, any specific special release of Medical Certificate (Authorization) or Demanded Ability (Soda) issued by the Federal Air Surgeon.
  • Must be a valid United States Drivers license.
  • Valid passport permitting travel in US Border or Refugee Travel Document.

Need Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to lift and move 40 lbs.

Required Skill of a Pilot

  • The company stated in the laid down guidelines should be able to comply with the attendance standards.
  • At least 23 years of age at the time of application.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to read the documents, follow the instructions, listen, understand and repeat detailed long instructions, and should understand and maintain the procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Early and recurrent training programs, proficiency tests, and periods of evaluation should be completed successfully.
  • Be aware of dangerous situations and should be able to handle emergency situations as needed.
  • Be cautious about ramps and other aircraft operating instruments in the air.
  • To complete the flight of the aircraft early (15 to 20 minutes), work should be done under tight time constraints.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively through verbal information, on public address systems, and through radio and other communication devices.
  • Must be able to follow company attendance standards and work rules as described in labor agreements and/or established guidelines.
  • As a part of a team, the ability to work well with others, meet the public and work under stressful situations.
  • The ability to work in rotating shifts, and to travel on overtime and a continuous basis.
  • Maintain a well-prepared appearance.

Other Skills Required

  • According to the company attendance standards described in the established guidelines, a well-maintained appearance should be maintained.
